The journey from San Francisco to Providence was very exciting. Because this was my first time traveling without my parents, I was even more thrilled. To my surprise, there was a unique amusement in gazing at fluffy clouds casting shadows, tiny cars running in thin lanes, and different landscapes changing from time to time. The most fun part of the flights was taking pictures.

Throughout the travel, Ms. Maher told me many interesting stories. One story in particular made me admire how technologically advanced humans have become. The story was of a friend who became physically disabled after a severe road accident. After several years, with the help of a new technology, he was able to walk. This story also reminded me that I will be learning about some DNA based tools that are used in current research and medical treatment.
After hours of traveling, we finally arrived in Providence, the creative capital of the ocean state. Since it was evening when we arrived, the weather wasn't too hot, however there was humidity. Ms. Maher's brother, Bob Maher, picked us up and dropped us to the grand Hotel Providence. I was very pleased with my air-conditioned, luxurious room.

Then Ms. Maher and I decided to go for a walk and explore around. We were fascinated by the beautiful murals and pictures that decorated huge brick walls. We saw many stores and restaurants along the interconnected streets. We even got lost, but we eventually found the way back to Hotel Providence.

My favorite mural. It describes my curiosity. |
About half an hour later, we decided to dine in at the hotel's restaurant Aspire. Ms. Maher and I started chatting about cooking. We ordered our drinks and meals. Soon Bob and his girlfriend, Ann, joined us for dinner. They were really interested in knowing more about the Ivy League Connection and what great opportunities it offers. Ms. Maher and I shared our experiences so far with the ILC. Their enthusiasm in knowing more about the ILC and the program I will be attending made me feel very happy. Around 11 PM we returned to our rooms with a prepared plan for tomorrow.
