Surprisingly, I woke up a few minutes before my alarm rang due to my anxiety about getting late. I hurried to the bathroom to take a quick shower and get dressed. Unfortunately, I took longer than expected to get ready. Since I only had about twenty minutes left before my class started, I decided to skip breakfast and head to my class.
Using a map I found my way to Bio Medical Center. In less than five minutes, I reached my classroom. I was so surprised and happy to see how close my class was to my dorm building.
The Bio Medical Center. This is where my classroom is located. |
When I entered the classroom, I saw a few students already seated there. In a few seconds, Ms. Jody Hall, my professor, walked in with Emily, the teacher assistant (TA).
After most students arrived, Ms. Hall instructed everyone to write where they are from and what they like to do for fun on a slip of paper without writing their name. Then all the slips were folded and put in a box. The task of the game was to pick a slip, read what was written on it, and guess who might be the owner of the slip. The game was fun and I got to know the names and a little about some of my classmates.
Then Ms. Hall gave her first lecture of this session. She went over DNA related information that she expects us to know or learn quickly. She also gave a course overview and informed us about how the class will proceed in the upcoming days.
After that we were given an assignment and later a pre-test. The pre-test wasn't too difficult nor too easy. Around 11:30 AM, being extremely famished, I quickly went to lunch. I had a fulfilling meal of an orange, a veggie burger, some fries, and a small piece of cinnamon cake.
After filling my tummy, I went to my dorm to unpack, clean my room, and get my homework and other assignments completed. After organizing my room and lining up activities for me to do tomorrow, I decided to take a power nap for an hour.
Soon my friend Andrea arrived and we went out to eat ice cream, complete a few errands, and have dinner. The highlight of the dinner was nachos with melted warm cheese and jalapenos.
Once returning to our dorm, Andrea, Jackie, and I started working on our homework and other assignments. I talked to my mom on the phone and informed her of my well-being. At 10:30 PM, we attending a short floor meeting with our RA.
For tomorrow, I am really excited about the workshops I have planned to attend after my class.
