Worth the Challenge

I had to wake up extra early today since we were meeting up before the challenge course at 7:30 AM, and leaving at 8. I rushed to breakfast, grabbing some french toast, eggs, and tater tots. I met Fatima, who was from Tunisia at the Ratty. She was taking a Political Science class, and we got to chat a little.

After breakfast, we piled into a large bus and started towards what was going to be a very long day. The ride over wasn't bad at all, it only took around 45 minutes to arrive at our destination. I was very happy to be able to see a little more of Rhode Island through the windows.

The course was taking place at where the BELL kids stayed, A large piece of property containing a lodge, tents, outdoor shower facilities, woods, and a gorgeous lake. It was great being surrounded by the trees and taking in the fresh air, the sunshine made it seem very serene and peaceful.

We very warned about ticks, which even with my (very ridiculous looking) white tick socks I felt a little nervous about. We were then told a few rules and guidelines and split into teams of about 12. Our team leaders were Elizabeth, our RD and Jamie, who works at BELL.

After that the games began, we had challenges like all 12 of us standing on a piece of tarp while trying to flip it, and arranging ourselves on a log by the first letter of our last names without speaking. By the end of the day our group had gotten a lot closer (emotionally and physically).

We had lunch, a turkey sandwich, chips, and soda for me and took some pictures. We also got a very sweet, but still good chocolate chip cookie for dessert. I thankfully did not get any ticks either. Around 4:30 PM we were lead back into the bus and driven to our dorms.

I was pretty tired so I took a nap and worked on homework. I had some fish and chips for dinner, and later on I joined Kamri to attend the poetry slam which was a lot of fun! People performed some beautiful pieces. I am excited to see what we will do in class tomorrow!
